John G. Bender

John G. “Jack” Bender, 77, of Beaver passed away early Thursday morning, January 5, 2017 at Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Brighton Township with his wife at his side. Born March 20, 1939 in Rochester, he was a son of the late Harry “Hut” and Olive Bender. Jack retired from Conrail as a brakeman after 42 years of service and was a member of the Rochester Turners, actively participating for over 4 decades. Jack will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 45 years Dorothy L. Bender, Beaver; two sons, Phillip (Kathe) Bloom, CA and Michael Bloom, Monaca; one brother, Art (Judy) Bender; one sister, Arlette Burkett, OH; sisters-in-laws and brother-in-law, Sandra Van Winkle, Rochester, Marsha Bender, Brighton Township and Dave “Doc” (Diann) Giles, Vanport; grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron) Palmieri, SC, Caulin Bloom, Monaca, and Christian Bloom, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother Harry “Pooch” Bender and brother-in-law Steven “Rip” Van Winkle. Friends will be received Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 2 pm until 4 pm and 6 pm until 8 pm in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver, where a funeral service will be conducted by Reverend David Byers Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 11 am. A private interment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
