John F. “Jack” Doyle, 88, of Brighton Township, peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends, Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Heritage Valley, Beaver.
Born October 23, 1927 in Salineville, OH, he was a son of the late John Nolan and Mary Frances Doyle. He retired from J & L Steel, Aliquippa as a rigger in the plant maintenance department, formerly having worked for Crucible Steel, Colt Industries, Midland. Following retirement, John worked and volunteered for the American Red Cross, Brighton Township. John enlisted in the Marine Corps during WWII, having served as part of the 1 st Marine Division’s legendary “China Marines” following the victory over Japan.
John enjoyed many hobbies over the years including a passion for bread making where he enjoyed personally delivering it to friends and family. He was also an avid gardener for many years, boasting some of the best tomatoes and peppers in Beaver. He was proud of his service in the Marine Corps displaying his “Semper Fi” decal on his vehicles and attending several Marine Corps Balls over the years. John had a quick Irish wit and was a gifted storyteller. Both attributes will be greatly missed.
Preceding John in death was his wife of 45 years, Miriam “Mim” Doyle in 2009 and his brother and best friend, Dr. J. Michael Doyle in 2013.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Mary Doyle, Fond du Lac, WI, six very special nieces, several great nieces and nephews, along with dear and close friends, Stuart and Elaine List, Brighton Township.
As per John’s wishes, there will be no visitation and services will be private. All arrangements are being handled by the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
