John “Jack” E. Mcguire

John Edward “Jack” McGuire, 83, of Vanport, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017, with his wife at his side. Born April 18, 1934, in Greensburg, Pa., he was a son of the late John and Marie Watts McGuire and had been a resident of Van Buren Homes for over 60 years.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he had retired from J & L Steel after 41 years and was a member of the Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver. He loved the company of his children and grandchildren and was an avid fisherman, having particularly enjoyed trips to Montana with his son. Jack was also an active member of the Van Buren Men’s Club and enjoyed playing cards.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Joan Borghini McGuire; two daughters, Lynn McGuire-Olzak and her husband Mike Olzak, and Mary and her husband, Scott Rapp; a son, John and his wife, Betty McGuire of Upper St. Clair, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Derek, Sam and Rachel Schmidt, Kristy Rapp, Kelly (Jonathan Wright) Rapp, Katie (Ben) Fraudin, and Brian and Kevin McGuire; a sister, Patty Tracey; and a brother, Don (Sandy) McGuire. Also surviving are nieces and nephews and many neighbors and friends.

Preceding him in death, besides his parents, were a granddaughter, Abby Schmidt, and two brothers, Dick and Bob McGuire.

Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC., 333 Third St., Beaver. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Beaver, celebrated by Father Robert Miller. Private entombment will take place at the Resurrection Cemetery Holy Angels Mausoleum, Moon Twp.
