John N. Adams

d. April 29, 2016

John Nicholas Adams went home to Jesus on April 29, 2016.  He was born in Wellsburg WV and raised by his late parents John and Matilda Adams in the Avella PA area.  He attended Avella HS. He served two years in the Air Force and was trained as an instrument controller. He and was part of the team that flew the first instrument controlled landing of a President (Truman ) into Andrew’s Air Force Base.  The presidents have landed at Andrew’s since that flight.  After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he went to trade school to become a watch maker. He worked at a jewelry store in Canonsburg for several years after graduating and then relocated to Midland to work at Orr’s Jewelry store.  He also worked at Crucible and retired in 1984.  He was a member and past president of the Midland Lions, Advisor to Midland Explorer Post 415, a member of the American Legion, Midland VFW, and St Anthony Club.  He was an avid golfer and was blessed to spend 25 years of his retirement enjoying his favorite past time.  He also liked to shoot pool, play cards, and spent many evenings dancing with the love of his life. He was a wonderful husband and father and always provided everything we needed. He loved and spoiled his wife and children.  He taught us to always respect ourselves and other people and to do things right the first time.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years Alna J Adams, by his son Randal J Adams, and his daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Walter Dorn.  He has 5 grandchildren, James and Tabbatha Heckel, Dustyn, Brittnee and Bethany Dorn and two cherished great-grandchildren Lyriq and Leroy Williams. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Julia Adams, mother-in-law Pierina Ferrari, a brother Lawrence Adams, sister Della (Fred) Walker, and a son-in-law Mark Edwin Heckel.

As per his wishes, there will be no public viewing.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  All arrangements are entrusted to the Noll Funeral Home, 333 Third St, Beaver, PA.  Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.  We would like to thank the staff of Rochester Manor and Vitas Hospice for the exceptional, compassionate care they provided for John.
