John Edward Smarsh

John Edward Smarsh, 64, of Brighton Township passed away unexpectedly Thursday March 3, 2016.

Born October 26, 1951 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John and Virginia Smarsh. John worked as an Advanced Business Analyst in the records and document control department with First Energy Corp Shippingport (formerly Duquesne Light) for the past 35 years. He is a member of Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver and an active member of the Fort McIntosh Club in Beaver and NRA. John was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, a love that he passed down to his children.

Surviving John is his wife Barbara L. Burick Smarsh, his three sons Derek (Kak), Chantilly, Va., Jesse (Marisa Monahan), Robinson Township, Ryan, at home, and two daughters Vanessa Thomas, Greensville, SC. and Laura, at home,two sisters Mary Ann Kelley, North Hills, Donna (Jerry) Gugliuzza, Allentown. Four grandchildren: Tyler & Gavin Thomas, and Mia & Kai Smarsh. Also surviving John are his in-laws Thomas and Jo Ann Burick, brother-in-law Robert (Tammy) Burick, all of Beaver Falls, his nieces and nephews: Jeremy and his daughter Iris, Briana, and Nathan Gugliuzza, and Terry Cole, all of Allentown, and innumerable friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Kathleen and Virginia Smarsh.

Friends will be received Monday, from 5 – 8pm and Tuesday, from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street Beaver. A service will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Saints Peter and Paul Church.
