Joseph J. Barney, 80, of Midland passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at his home.
Born July 18, 1935 in Midland, he was a son of the late Peter and Albenia Barney. Joseph worked as a steelworker most of his life, retiring from Crucible Steel, Midland, in 1982. He also cooked at the grillroom at Seven Oaks Country Club, Ohioville, worked as a custodian for the Midland School District, and was a faithful member of St. Blaise Parish, Midland. In his spare time, Joseph loved to cook, especially spaghetti, and play cards.
Joseph is survived by his wife Sheila (Beohm) Barney, Midland, two sons, Michael J. (Paula) Barney, Brighton Township and Bryan P. (Tammi) Barney, Midland, one daughter, Marcy J. (John) Sepp, Rochester, NY, three brothers, Anthony (Delores) Barney, East Liverpool, OH, Pete (Patty) Barney, and Robert Marchegiano, all of Midland, and eight grandchildren, Meghan and Ross Barney, Brighton Township, Nicklaus and Sydney Barney, Midland, Chelsea and Caitlin Sepp, Nashville, TN, Griffin Sepp, Morgantown, WV, and Trevor Sepp, USMC.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by four brothers, Dominic “Harpo” Marchegiano, Emidio “Slats” Marchegiano, John “Suggi” Marchegiano, and Emerico “Rico” Barney, and four sisters, Susan Brown, Anita Fry, Loretta Cook, and Rose Pizutti.
Friends will be received Thursday, January 28, 2016, from 2 pm until 4 pm and 6 pm until 8 pm in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Avenue, Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Fr. Michael Yaksick Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1 pm at St. Blaise Parish, Midland. Interment will follow at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver.
