Joseph Nicholas Wuchina

Joseph Nicholas Wuchina, 81, of Beaver, Pennsylvania, passed away surrounded by his loving family at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital on May 20, 2021.

He was born Nov. 23, 1939, in Midland, and graduated from Midland High School in 1957 and attended Duke University, graduating in 1961. As an athlete, Joe was a lineman on Duke’s 1961 Cotton Bowl champion team. He was inducted into the Midland Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. Joe had a 37-year career with State Farm Insurance, working in offices in Pennsylvania and Florida. An avid outdoorsman, Joe loved to golf, fish and hunt. Especially golf!

Joe married his high school sweetheart Sara Jane Golden on Dec. 31, 1958. Together for nearly 63 years, Joe and Jane raised three wonderful children. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Anna and Joseph Wuchina, son Edward Wuchina, grandson Zachary Metzger, and sister Mary Ann Waterman. He is survived by his wife Sara Jane (Golden) Wuchina, daughter Christine (Wuchina) Metzger, son-in-law Greg Metzger and son Eric Wuchina – all of Beaver; granddaughter Jessica (Metzger) Wickersham and her husband Adam Wickersham (Mooresville, NC), and great grandsons Kaden, Topher and Emmett Wickersham.

Friends will be received on Monday May 24, 2021 from 4p-8p in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, PA 15009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 10:30am at Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver by his pastor, Father Robert Miller.
