Leo E. Curto

Leo E. Curto, 87, of Midland, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at Friendship Ridge, Brighton Township.

Born May 29, 1928 in Midland, he was a son of the late Antonio and Brigida Scibetta Curto.  Leo graduated from Midland High School and served proudly in the U.S. Army. Upon his return, he graduated from Penn State University and Duquesne University, eventually teaching music at Western Beaver High School where he retired as the Director of Music.  He was a choir director for Presentation Adult Choir from 1975 until 1984, was a faithful member of St. Blaise Parish, the PSEA, the American Legion Post #481, Knights of Columbus Midland Council #2005, Archbishop Canevin Assembly, and the Midland Rotary.

Surviving Leo is his wife of 43 years, Mary Jane Novak Curto, a sister Marie (Charles) Phillips, Warrenton, VA, a sister-in-law Geraldine Curto, Pittsburgh, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Curto, and two sisters, Phyllis Buscemi and Jenny Laporte Ray.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 pm until 4pm and 6pm until 8pm in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Avenue, Midland.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Fr. Michael Yaksick, Friday, December 18, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Blaise, Midland.  Interment will follow at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver.  Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Leo’s name to St. Blaise Parish, St. Vincent DePaul Society, or a charity of your choice.
