Linda Skalka

Linda Skalka, a long-time (1948) resident of Beaver, PA, passed away December 14, 2020 in her home.

Born July 25, 1946 in Wilkinsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Helen Skalka. Linda was a 1964 graduate of Beaver Area High School, going on to receive her B.S. and M.S. in Education from Penn State University, University Park. She retired from the Blackhawk School District where she had taught at the elementary and middle school level. Linda was a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association and had attended services at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Valley Parish, and First Presbyterian Church, both in Beaver. She was fond of animals, having had dogs, cats, and a rabbit, and leaving food for the wildlife in her yard.

Linda is survived by her two brothers and one sister-in-law, Kenneth Skalka, Indianapolis, IN, and Richard and Rose Skalka, Brooksville, FL; nephew Richard Skalka, Jr., Pawleys Island, SC; niece Jacqueline (Christopher) Woodin, Beacon Falls, CT; and two great nephews, Joshua and Jason Woodin, Naugatuck, CT.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her aunts, uncles, one sister-in-law, and a number of cousins.

As per Linda’s wishes, there was no visitation. A private graveside service was conducted by Fr. Robert J. Miller at Beaver Cemetery, December 18, 2020.
