Lois Brashears

Lois Shafer Brashears, of Brighton Twp, passed away, Thursday, October 14, 2021, at St Barnabas- Beaver Meadows, in Brighton Twp. A well-known music teacher and performer in the local and Pittsburgh area. Lois was a former member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 82-545. Lois was a member of the Metropolitan Symphonic Band, West Hills Symphony, Slippery Rock Musician’s Concert Band, and the Pittsburgh Civic Symphony Orchestra and numerous other music groups. Daughter of the late Raymond A. and Kathryn L. (Evans) Shafer of Brighton Twp. Lois is survived by her son and daughter –in-law, Mark and Sueko Brashears, Japan, and a daughter, Robin Brashears (Gary Carmody) Rimersburg, Pa., two granddaughters, Samantha (Mike Payne) Brashears, Brighton Twp and Marisa Brashears, La Planta, MD. She is also survived by great-granddaughters, Aliah and Kaiya Brashears, Brighton Twp. Lois is also survived by a brother and sister in law, Robert and Janet Shafer, Chippewa Twp, brother, David Shafer, Brighton Twp and brother in law, John Brashears, Texas, along with former sister in law, Patty Shafer, Conway and nephews, Dennis (Connie) Shafer, Enon Valley, Mike Shafer, Chippewa Twp and Marty (Jodi) Shafer, New Brighton and nieces, Raeann Shafer, Brighton Twp and Amanda and Rebecca Brashears, Arizona, as well as, cousins and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Brashears, Jr in 1986; her in-laws, Robert C and Betty Brashears, her beloved companion, Edward Paladini in 2014 and best friend Holly White in 2021. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at St Barnabas-Beaver Meadows and Hospice for their loving care of Lois. As per Lois’s wishes, all services will be private.
