Louis R. Hapach, 54 of Ohioville passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2019 following a brave 6-year battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.
Born September 6, 1965 in Rochester, PA; he is the son of Louis and Margaret “Peggy” (Dawson) of Ohioville. He was a 1983 graduate of Western Beaver High School, he later graduated from New Castle School of Trades as an electrician as well as being a veteran of the United States Air Force and serving for 13 years with the Air National Guard. He had worked as a maintenance mechanic at US Gypsum in Aliquippa and was a faithful member of the St. Blaise Parish family. Lou was an avid outdoorsman. A member of the Midland Sportsman Club, he had a passion for hunting, fishing, and all Pittsburgh sports teams. Overall, Lou’s most proud accomplishment was his unwavering love for his children and wife.
Surviving besides his parents, Louis and Margaret, and his grandmother Josephine Slater of Ohioville, is his wife of 30 years, Antonia “Toni” Barney Hapach, a son, Louis Z. “Louie” Hapach, Ohioville, 2 daughters, Brittany (Seth) Melnick, Robinson Twp., Madison Hapach, Ohioville, a brother, Mark Shane (Paulette Fazenbaker) Hapach, Ohioville, a sister, Ivy Rae Phillis, Chippewa. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Earl Dawson, Ida Mae Dawson and Adam Slater. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Pete “Junior” Barney. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Patricia Barney of Ohioville, brother-in-law, John Barney (Maria) of Beaver, Wenda (Barney) Vujaklya, Ohioville, brother-in-law Peter Barney, Jr. (Lisa), Industry. He will also be sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews, family, many friends, and his canine companion, Diesel.
Friends will be received Thursday, December 26 from 1:00 to 3:00 and from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave, Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 am at St. Blaise Church. Interment with full military rites will follow at the Beaver Cemetery.
