Louise Devries

Louise DeVries, formerly of Center Twp., passed away on Wednesday, August 7 at Passavant Community in Zelienople, where she had resided for the past 5 years.  She now joins her beloved late husband Benjamin S. DeVries in heaven.

Born July 22, 1926 in Waynesburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Donley A. and Edna King.  She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Duane and Donley King.

She and her husband owned and operated DeVries Realty in Center Twp. for 25 years until they retired to Florida then Georgia and then returned to beaver County when their health was declining.  In the late 50’s, Louise had the role as one of the trailblazers of women in the local real estate market.  At the time, very few women were as successful as her, during the era when women weren’t even allowed to attend the Men’s Only Board of Realtors meetings and the real estate field was dominated by men.

She is survived by 4 children; Charlene (Jim) Oravetz, Conyers, GA, Ben (Donna) DeVries, Palm Beach Gardens, Fl, Keith (Joanne) DeVries, Center Twp., and Deb (Bob Duncan, North Sewickley Twp.

She is also survived by grandchildren; Brian and Brandon Oravetz, Rob and Lauren DeVries, Keith and Jeff DeVries, Ray and Shaun Keefer, Kayla Murtha, brothers Stanley and Hubert King plus 9 great grandchildren, along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received Thursday, August 15, 2019, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver.    An additional visitation will be held at Pathway Church in Chippewa, Friday, August 16, 2019, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.  Louise’s nephews Reverend Hugh and Donley King, along with longtime Nazarene friend, Pastor MacNeil, will conduct the service.  Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
