Lyla F. Hilfinger

Lyla “Fran” Hilfinger, 96, of Brighton Twp., passed away with her family at her side Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

Born June 2, 1923 in New Brighton, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Stewart Conner. Lyla lived nearly 70 years in Brighton Twp., initially working as a manager of the children’s clothing department at Kaufmann’s before going on to serve as a G.E.D. examiner at CCBC until her retirement. A faithful member of Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver, Lyla loved to read in her spare time.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Jack R. Hilfinger in 2001; a brother, James Conner; and sisters, Elizabeth Smith, Mary Alice Moore, and Margie Hill.

Lyla will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah J. “Sally” and Mitchell Green; a son, John F. Hilfinger, all of Brighton Twp.; three granddaughters, Jessica Erin Green, Kristy Nicole (Max) Tubbs and Alisha Marie Hilfinger and her husband, Obada Alshurman; along with two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Tubbs and Ella Johnsen.

Friends will be received Friday, August 16, 2019 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver, where a blessing service will be conducted Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Beaver Cemetery will be private.
