Margaret E. “Maggie” Tekstar, 85, of Beaver, passed away at home Wednesday, November 1, 2017.
Born November 19, 1931 in Chicago, IL., she was a daughter of the late Gustav and Bernice Jacobson Anderson. She began her career as a registered nurse upon her graduation from Oak Park School of Nursing, IL. She had a love for sports and the arts. A talented athlete, Maggie loved participating and competing in many sports including swimming, downhill and cross-country skiing, figure skating, and horseback riding, dressage and jumping. She was especially passionate about long distance cycling. A member of the League of American Bicyclists, Maggie participated in the 3,200 mile Cross Country USA Bike Ride, the Des Moines Register’s Annual 7-Day Bike Ride across Iowa, and the Paris-Brest-Paris Bike Ride and many others. When she wasn’t taking part in sports, Maggie was active with the Tusca Ridge Garden Club, the Beaver United Methodist Church Choir, Methodist Womens , and the Beaver Valley Pony Club. In her spare time, she found pleasure painting, creating sculptures, and playing the piano, French horn and cello. She was a faithful member of Beaver United Methodist Church, Beaver.
Maggie will be greatly missed by her beloved husband of 66 years, Frank A. Tekstar, Beaver; three sons, Frank J. (Janice) Tekstar, Bradenton, FL, and Joseph F. (Diane) Tekstar and John J. (Elizabeth) Tekstar, both of Beaver; and two grandsons, John Tekstar, Knoxville, TN and Frank J. (Rose) Tekstar, Marengo, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Edward and Donald Anderson, and a sister, Esther Vock.
Friends will be received Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted by her pastor, Reverend Emmett Anderson, at Beaver United Methodist Church, 345 College Avenue, Beaver, Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Beaver Cemetery.
