Marlene B. Kerr

September 30, 1933 — May 25, 2020

Marlene B. Kerr, 86, of Westerville, OH, formerly of Beaver, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2020 in the CCU at Heritage Valley Medical Center with family at her side. Born September 30, 1933 in Evans City to Lewis and Ethel Kirchner, then moved to Beaver in 1940 and lived there until March of 2015. Marlene had five siblings – Lewis, Kenny, Fred, Barbara (predeceased) and Bruce Kirchner, currently residing in Conway, Pennsylvania. Marlene married her high school sweetheart Dallas P. Kerr, Jr (deceased 2009) in 1950 on Christmas Eve while home from Germany on Army leave. Marlene and Dallas enjoyed 59 years of marriage, and had three children: Debra Putnam (Dick) of Westerville, Ohio, Dallas P Kerr IV (deceased 2017) (Elizabeth) of Freedom, Pa and Michael Kerr (Michelle) of East Haddam, Connecticut. They had six grandchildren: Dallas, Natasha and Tyler Kerr, Ethan and Nathaniel Kerr and Michael Putnam, and three great grandchildren: Skylar and Logan Kerr and Theo Putnam. Marlene and Dallas visited Ohio and Connecticut often. They spent many hours having visits, sleepovers and fishing excursions with Dallas, Natasha and Tyler. They vacationed in Hilton Head, Ocean City MD, Florida, Lake Erie and many Connecticut places of interest. Marlene also traveled with Dallas, Elizabeth and grandchildren to the Caribbean for a fabulous cruise in 2010. Marlene was a Beaver and Vanport resident for 74 years, attending and serving with many groups at First Presbyterian Church and Century Club. She worked as a receptionist/assistant for pediatrician Dr. Clair Merriman, Dr. Sloss and Dr. Roy Marion, utilizing her secretarial and bookkeeping skills (and frequently confusing family with shorthand symbols in messages and recipes). She was a familiar face to many Beaver residents. Marlene was blessed with two dear friends, Margie Knopp (deceased) (high school) and Emy McIssac. Marlene and Emy spent decades walking at Beaver Cemetery, working together at Dr Marion’s, serving together at First Presbyterian and attending Bible Study, shopping, visiting shut ins, and lunching at the Wooden Angel. Marlene had many friendly and kind neighbors, at Tamaqui Village and fond memories of potlucks, musicals, and community activities. In earlier years, she baked and shared treats with neighbors, enjoyed visiting and chatting with everyone. Marlene and daughter Debbie often visited with Beverly Kirchner (beloved sister-in-law), sharing memories and dessert. Marlene became a resident at Cambridge Village (personal care) from 2015 -2020. She made many friends, enjoyed many activities, and was loved and well cared for by their staff. Professional arrangements have been entrusted to Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A small private family service will be held in the near future. She will be interred along side her beloved husband, Dallas, at Beaver Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com. Anyone who desires may contribute in memory of Marlene to the Deacons at First Presbyterian Church, Pastor Jeff Arnold (252 College Ave, Beaver, Pa 15009), or the Activity Program at Cambridge Village, 1600 Darlington Rd, Beaver Falls, Pa 15010, attn Sandy.
