Martha J. Reed Johnson

Martha J. Reed, 84 of Brighton Twp., passed away Wednesday evening, November 11, 2015 at her home surrounded by family.

Born June 1, 1931 in New Brighton, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Milretta Johnston, and had been a resident of Brighton Twp since 1960. After graduating in 1953 from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, Martha briefly became a 6th grade teacher with St. Edmunds School in Pittsburgh. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver where she had served as an Elder.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold F. Reed, Jr., and four cherished children, Jenifer (Scott) Anderson, Minneapolis, MN, Harold F. III “Pat” (Lorie) Reed, Essex, CT, Nancy L (Michael McRoberts) Reed, Hendersonville, NC, Thomas J. (Tracey) Reed, Beaverton, MI, and six grandchildren, Ian Anderson, Jeremy (Jaclyn) Anderson, Carey and Jessica Reed, and Zachary and Trent Reed.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was a sister, Mary Washburn.

Friends will be received Sunday from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:00 am in the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver by her pastor, Reverend Jeffrey A. Arnold. Private interment will take place at the Beaver Cemetery.
