Mary Brown Christy Bortot

Mary Brown Christy Bortot, 91, of Beaver, passed away early Thursday morning, February 10, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver.

Born August 26, 1930 in Grove City, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Naples) Brown. A 1948 graduate of Grove City High School, Mary went on to train as an x-ray technician, and earned an associate degree at Penn State Beaver. She had a long career in the medical field, working at Mount Sinai Hospital, Philadelphia, Youngstown Hospital, Youngstown, OH, and many years working as an x-ray tech at Rochester Hospital, and for a Beaver orthopedic surgeon. Mary also served as an ombudsman at the former Medical Center, Beaver. In her spare time, Mary was a volunteer at the Beaver Area Memorial Library, and the Women’s Auxiliary of Heritage Valley.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Bortot, September 2002; three brothers, and two sisters.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Robert (Mary) Christy; granddaughter, Dr. Carla (Dr. Robert Gallo) Gallo; grandson, Robert (Jen) Christy; great-grandchildren, Robby and Grace Gallo, and Samuel Christy; sister-in-law, Diane Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 14, 2022 at 10 a.m., in Our Lady of the Valley, Saints Peter and Paul Church, Beaver.
