Michael D. Nelson

Michael D. Nelson, 64, of North Fayette, formerly of Warren and Beaver, PA, passed away from stage 4 metastatic cancer at Allegheny General Hospital, Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Born February 25, 1961 in California, he was a son of the late Robert and Ramona Pabon Nelson. Michael was a RSM Technician at Giant Eagle and a member of New Salem Presbyterian Church, where he served as a musical director. He was an actor, director, and musician for R-ACT Theater Productions and a director and board member for the Pittsburgh New Works Festival. Michael was involved in many musical endeavors, performing as a keyboard player for StreetSide Saints Band, and as a musician, director and actor for countless other musical and theatrical productions. He was an alum of Edinboro University and member of the Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity.

Michael will be greatly missed by his wife, Kristen Lee Helmick-Nelson; daughters, Marissa and Kara Helmick-Nelson; and brother, Kimio Nelson.

A memorial picnic will be held for Mike on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Brady’s Run Park, Shelter #8 beside the main lodge, located on Route 51 in Beaver County. Please bring a picnic lunch for yourself, and food to share if you like.
