Milton Savanovich

April 22, 1928 — February 2, 2022

Milton (Milan Nedjelko) Savanovich passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at age 93 at the Masonic Village, Sewickley. Born in Conway, PA on April 22, 1928, Milt was the son of loving parents Nikola and Mildred (Loncar) Savanovich, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him were two loving wives: Pauline Majesic Savanovich and Jeanne Bruner Warren Savanovich; brother and sister-in-law George and Nancy Savanovich, sister and brother-in-law Ann and Mike Sobat; and sister- and brothers-in law Emily and John Fabanich and Donald Hoffman. Surviving Milt are his four girls and their families Paula Morelli, Marla (Mike) Sekel, Lynn (Sean) Currie, and Beth (Michael) Hewitt; his grandchildren Pam Morelli, Nate (Francie) Morelli, Kelli and Miranda Sekel, Mike (Gabby) Hewitt, Ben (Danielle) Hewitt, Lauren Yothers, and Mara (John) Gardner; his great-grandchildren Jaxon and Mason Hewitt, Owen and Avery Hewitt, Isla Rose Morelli, and Lillie Gardner: his sister-in-law Mary Ann Hoffman, and his niece who grew up more as his sister Melanie Zackovich Minich. Milt was also blessed with many close-to-his-heart nieces and nephews, along with their families. Milt was graduated from Freedom High School in 1947, went on to serve four proud years in the United States Navy’s VP21 flight division before returning home to complete his Bachelor’s in Economics from Geneva College while working full time in the offices of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Milt retired from Conrail with 43 years of service in 1990 and was proud to have taught school in Freedom, Rochester and Midland when he wasn’t working on the railroad. Milt’s passions encompassed his family, traveling (exploring), reading, bowling, golf, telling stories and word play. He was a 32nd degree Mason, Rochester Lodge; a founding member of the railroad’s Family Club and of the A-Serbs in Aliquippa, a group that provides scholarships to high schoolers seeking to further their education, as well as a member of the Elks and several veterans’ groups. We will most remember his zest for life, the many lessons he shared with us over the years, his humor, his love, and all the time he devoted to us: he was always there to help each and every one of us, to welcome us, to make us feel special. Our family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Masonic Village who so kindly took care of our dad, particularly those of Magnolia Court who exhibited care and comfort for Milt—they truly became part of the family. Visitation will be at Noll Funeral Home, Third Street, Beaver, PA, on Monday from 3 to 7 pm. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 pm, followed by interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom, PA. In lieu of flowers, our family would like to honor Milt’s spirit by asking you to give to those in need; Milt advocated for veteran’s groups, local libraries, or would be happy to have contributions to the charities of your choice
