Nancy E. Ruggeri

Nancy E. (Ross) Ruggeri, 99, of Midland, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver, surrounded by her loving family.

Born April 23, 1918 in Wellsville, Ohio, she graduated from Kent State University, going on to teach at Garfield Elementary School, Wellsville, OH for several years before moving to Midland to join her husband in his plumbing business, N. F. Ruggeri & Son. Nancy’s thirst for knowledge led her to learn everything she could about plumbing, allowing her to advise her amazed customers just as she did with her elementary students. Education being her first love, she returned to teaching at Presentation BVM, Midland in 1967, spending the next 20 years as a 6th grade teacher, and then as a vice principal until her retirement in 1987, touching the lives of well over 1,000 students during her long career.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Salvatore F. Ruggeri in 1988, and all of her siblings.

She will be greatly missed by her sons, Frank (Gina) Ruggeri, and Vince (Natalie) Ruggeri, all of Georgetown; daughters, Paula (Mike) Barney, Beaver, and Celeste (Jim) D’Itri, Robinson Twp.; nine grandchildren, Vince, Jimmy, Beth, Christen, Sal, Chelsae, Lino, Meghan, and Ross; and five great-grandchildren with another on the way in June. Nancy will also be missed by her favorite grand-dog, Ollie.

Friends will be received Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Avenue, Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Blaise Parish, Midland, with interment to follow at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver.
