Norma Hornick

Norma Murdock Hornick, 68, of Ohioville, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018, surrounded by her family at Allegheny General, Pittsburgh.

Born July 17, 1949 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Daniel T. and Martha Murdock. An Industry resident for 44 years, Norma was a 1971 graduate of IUP, later receiving her Master’s Degree in Music Education. She taught for 22 years before her retirement in 2010 as an elementary school music teacher with the South Side School District and enjoyed teaching piano privately as well. Active in her community, Norma was a member of the ADK, a sorority for active and retired teachers, a former Girl Scout leader and 4-H leader and served on the board of a non-profit organization called Cardz for Kidz, a charity providing inspiring cards for children in hospitals. In her spare time, she could be found either at Seven Oaks County Club or the Calcutta YMCA where she loved to swim every day.

Norma will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, Michael P. Hornick, Ohioville; daughter, Sally (Stanton) Anderson, Winnetka, IL; son, James (Jennifer) Hornick, Chicago, IL; one brother, Keith (Janine) Murdock, Wintersville, OH; a sister, Diane (Delma) Hughes, Tallahassee, FL; and three grandchildren, Sadie, Sloane, and Stanton Anderson, Jr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Samuel.

A Celebration of Life was held at Seven Oaks Country Club, Beaver. Arrangements were handled by the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
