Norma E. Karas

Norma Gilkey Karas, 88, of Brighton Township passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016.

Born January 30, 1928 in Beaver Falls, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Minnie Gilkey. After graduating from Beaver Falls High School, Norma enjoyed a 26 year career at Westinghouse Electric, Vanport, before retiring in 1988. She was a faithful member of Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver and a loving mother whose family celebrates her love of people, quick mind, willingness to lend a hand, cooking and baking, sense of humor, and strong integrity.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Karas, one son, Dr. Jay Brandenberger and his wife, Mary Fran of South Bend, IN, two granddaughters, Ellen Brandenberger, Boston, MA and Rachel Brandenberger, Chicago, IL, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert and Orin Gilkey, and three sisters, Thelma Russell, Zona Fuchel, and Shirley Brown.

Friends will be received Friday, April 29, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver. A private interment will take place at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Norma’s name may be made to Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 200 Third Street, Beaver, PA 15009.
