Norma Jean (Dewhirst) Stevens, 73, of South Beaver, formerly of Rochester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, following a hard-fought battle with cancer, January 28, 2026.
Born January 21, 1953 in Beaver Falls, she was a daughter of the late Eugene “Duke” Dewhirst and Iris Rager. Norma built a career in retail of over 30-years, eventually becoming a DG manager until her retirement in January, 2024, gaining a plethora of work friends she always held close to her heart. Norma didn’t have any hobbies, instead, devoting all her time to being a caring mother and proud “Grammie”.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her first son, Dennis “DJ” Churney, Jr., and sister, Elaine (Robert Halfhill) Dewhirst.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Melisa, Beaver Falls; son, Brian, New Galilee; sister, Ellen (Eddie), Beaver Falls; grandchildren, Tyler, OH, Nicholas, New Brighton, Cameron, Georgia, Justin, Alexia and Alaiyah, all of Beaver Falls; niece, Stephanie (Scott), OH; nephews, Aaron, OH, David (Rachael), Beaver Falls and Derrek (Allison), New Brighton, Bobby and Joey, both of OH; along with numerous great-nieces and nephews. Norma will also be missed by very special childhood friends, Emily “Bunny” Steffen and Toni Disher; assistant and friend, Chris Cook (Nocera); and extremely close friend of over 30 years, Deb Dietz.
Norma will forever be in our hearts.
