Opal M. Gadwell, 93, of Beaver, formerly of New Galilee and Chippewa Twp., passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019.
Born January 26, 1926 in Wingett Run, OH, she was a daughter of the late Harold G. and Nellie M. Carle. Opal graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1944, and will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. A woman of faith, Opal was the last surviving original member of the Church of Christ, New Brighton.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James T. Gadwell, Sr. in March 2001; and three sisters, Mabel Robinson, Mildred Hoffman, and Edith Lloyd.
She will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Shirley (Richard) Sayers, Beaver, and Sharon (Bob) Franssen, Copperopolis, CA; a son, James T. (Carolyn) Gadwell, Jr., New Bern, NC; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelly, Lindsey, and Andrew; along with her cherished great-grandchildren, Ashley, James David “J.D.”, and Miguel.
Friends will be received Friday, December 20, 2019, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver, where a service will be conducted by her friend, Keith Wolfgong of the Church of Christ, Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. A private interment will take place at the Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery, New Galilee.
