Patrick O Haffey

Patrick Oran Haffey, 85, a lifetime resident of Brighton Township, entered eternity on Friday, July 10, 2015.

Pat was born on December 21, 1929 to Edward Merle and Hazel Mildred Haffey. He is preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Pat is survived by his wife of 65 years, Velma Jean at home, and six children; Pat ( Carol A.) Ohioville, Michael (Lisa) Rochester, Minnesota, Terri Corcoran of Big Beaver, Cheryl (Chris) Kestner of Greenville, South Carolina, Bruce ( Dori) of New Galilee, and Matthew ( Josefina) of Chippewa.

Patrick was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren: Rian, Katie, Brandon, Brian, Matthew, Betsy, Collin, Erin, Kiersten, Colleen, Courtney, Caleb, Amber, Shane, and Forrest, along with 11 great grandchildren.

After high school, Pat joined the Merchant Marines for two years. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict in 1951, serving at Ft. Eustis, Virginia and in Greenland, assisting in the construction of the DEW Line.

Pat worked many jobs during his life to provide for his family, ultimately retiring as a pipefitter first class from Arco Chemical in 1992. He joined the Brighton Township Volunteer Fire Department in 1956 and was a loyal member for 59 years until his death, enjoying a visit from his fellow firefighters just a week before his passing.

Pat attended Pathways Church in Chippewa and was a past president of the Richmond Little Red School House and Brighton Township Historical Society.

Friends will be received Sunday and Monday from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm in the Noll Funeral Home, 333 Third Street, Beaver, where a service will be held Tuesday, July 14, at 10:00 am. Interment with full military rights by the Beaver County Special Unit will follow at the Beaver Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
