Richard “Dude” Leslie McCafferty, 89, of Brighton Twp., passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023. Born on March 2, 1934, in Sligo, PA, he was the son of the late Richard Lee and Margaret Ruth McCafferty. Dick attended Geneva College, going on to work for 25-years at the former Laidlaw Wire, Monaca. He moved on to Berry Metal Company where he had a 22- year career, first as Personnel Manager, and eventually retiring as Director of Operations. Dick was an avid hunter, trapper, beekeeper, wine connoisseur, and gardener, who always had a meticulously kept garden and lawn. He also was the head of the Bee Keeper Association, a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and very proud and patriotic man of his country. Dick will be remembered by all who knew him as the “best” storyteller, and for his love of his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by four siblings, Shirley Sayers, Kareen Lasky, Patricia Nix, and Mary Marshall. Dick will be sadly missed by his wife of 67 years, Darlene Herman McCafferty; his son, Kevin McCafferty, of Rochester; his daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Bob Hathaway, of Brighton Twp.; brothers, Tim (Kathy) McCafferty, and John (Connie) McCafferty; sisters, Kathy McCafferty, and Judy (Jim) Butler; grandchildren, Amanda (Matt Phillips) McCafferty, Jessica (Jason Zapsic) McCafferty, Cory McCafferty, Robert (Jess) Hathaway, Cody (Jackie) Hathaway, and Timothy (Erica) Bell; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Annabelle, Colton, Raelynn, Dylan, Jason Jr., Xander, and Jacob; special friends, Stephen and Valerie Botinovch, and Aaron Bement; his faithful-four-legged companion, Barron; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. Friends will be received on Tuesday June 20, 2023 from 4pm-8pm in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver PA 15009. Online condolences may be shared at www.nollfuneral.com. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 2, 2024 at 2pm at Two Mile Run Lodge, 1925 Gypsy Glen Road, Beaver, PA 15009. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s name to Wounded Warriors Foundation, support.woundedwarriorproject.org, Tunnels for Towers, t2t.org, or the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
