Richard A. Olek, 83 of Brighton Township passed away early Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born February 8, 1932 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late John and Sophia Olek, and had been a resident of Brighton Township the past 50 years. He retired in 1990 as a sales representative from Merck Pharmaceutical after 28 years. A member of Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver, he was a former board member of Beaver County Children and Youth Services, a lifelong honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, former member of Beaver Rotary, the Beaver Valley Jaycees, and a lifelong member of BPOE 283 Rochester. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Mary Blice Olek, four daughters, Karen (Robert) Bragg, Herndon, VA, Pamela (Carlos) Rojas, McLean, VA, Lisa Lynch, Ashburn, VA, Jennifer (Mark) Konchar, Centreville, VA, a son Richard A. Jr. (Meggan) Olek, Herndon, VA, a brother, John (Margaret) Olek, North Huntingdon, PA, a sister, Irene Westman, Houston, TX, and eleven grandchildren, Shauna Bragg, Carlos IV and Madelyn Rojas, Katherine and Theodore Lynch, Mia, Josephine and Richard Olek III, and Bella, Casey and Jamie Konchar.
Friends will be received Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm for a memorial visitation in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 am at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church by Father Robert Miller. Interment will take place at a later date in a Veterans National Cemetery.
