Richard Schiemer

July 27, 1931 — August 7, 2019

Richard “Rusty” Schiemer, 88 of Patterson Heights passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019.

Born July 27, 1931 in Erie, he was the son of the late Harry Franklin Schiemer and the late Wilma Schwarz Schiemer.  He was clever and adventurous, leading his merry band on trips around the countryside.  The shenanigans included visits to Disney World, strawberry picking in Wattsburg and various day trips on driving vacations.  This was not a man to spend his vacation sitting on the beach.  In his time he took a row boat across the bay in Erie, much to the consternation of his mother, helped his father build a house with beams salvaged from old barns and drove riding lawnmowers with great abandon.

He graduated from Thiel College in 1953 and received a B. A. in History.  His plans to be a teacher were derailed when he fell in love with the daughter of a CPA and he was persuaded to join Snodgrass & Company, CPAs.  He founded his own firm, Schiemer & Company, CPAs in 1980.  He was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Beaver Falls, where he served as a member of Session and had been treasurer for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years on October 7, 2016, Shirley Snodgrass Schiemer, a son, William Matthew Schiemer and a brother, Harry Kenneth Schiemer.

He is survived by his five children, Hope Schiemer, Patterson Heights, Barbara Schiemer, College Hill, Margaret and David Gentzel, Wexford, Richard Jr. and Beth Schiemer, West Mayfield, Eric and Jennifer Schiemer, Moon Township, eight grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Becca, Noah, Gabriel, Autumn, Alex and Kevin.

Friends will be received Monday, August 12, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, where the service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert Saul officiating.  Private interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver.  Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1099 Sixth Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA  15010.
