Robert C. Boyde, Sr., 76, of Brighton Twp., passed away, surrounded by his family, Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
Born September 10, 1943 in Beaver, he was a son of the late Charles and Marie Reigel Boyde. A lifelong Beaver resident, Robert was a proud Veteran of the U. S. Navy. In 1983, he and his wife, Katherine, owned and operated Boyde’s Tankerman Service, having three locations in Bridgewater, South Pointe, OH, and Louisville, Ky. They sold the business in 2003, with Robert continuing to work until his retirement in 2007.
Robert was a very proud father and grandfather who had a very kind and gentle manner about him. Often found outside in nature, he would often be seen laboring in his “Garden of Eden.” He loved tending to his flower gardens and spent an immeasurable amount of time cutting trees and chopping wood.
Very active in his community, Robert was a 32nd Degree Mason with the F & AM St. James Lodge, having served as a Worshipful Master in 2006. He was also a member of the Royal Arch, Rochester, and a former president and member of the River Terminal Operators of Pittsburgh. Robert also spent many years as a member of the Brighton Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. His interest in researching family history fueled his volunteerism at the Beaver County Genealogical Society.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53-years Katherine A. Boyde in 2016.
He will be greatly missed by three sons, Robert C. (Mary Ann Krakar) Boyde, Jr., Ohioville, Thomas E. (Sherry) Boyde, Brighton Twp., and Daniel “Jake” Boyde, Ohioville; his daughter, Melanie A. (John) Pollick, Brighton Twp.; 13 grandchildren, Chad, Bailey, Danielle, Cody (Chelsea), Peter, Tori, Alivia, Chase, Jacob, Madeline, Isaac, Jackson, and Connor; along with his great-grandson, Owen Charles, a very close cousin and friend, Don (Dee) Harris, and special friend, Judy Mortimer.
Friends will be received Tuesday, June 2, 2020 from 10 a.m. until time of service, conducted by his pastor, Reverend Jonathon Watt, at 12 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. Robert will be laid to rest next to Katherine at Beaver Cemetery at a later date. CDC guidelines of occupancy, social distancing, and the wearing of masks will be followed.
