Robert J. Capo, Sr., of Beaver, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, November 30, 2023 in the comfort of his home. Born December 20, 1935 in Ellwood City, a son of the late Anthony P. and Ida (Venturi) Capo. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Youngstown, OH, Class of 1953. He continued his education at Youngstown University while employed by A & P Tea Co. Growing up he would spend summers working in his father’s restaurant, and his father’s furniture and appliance store in New Brighton. The experiences became the building blocks to own and operate a furniture and appliance store in Youngstown while attending college. Their success led to a second appliance store in Struthers. After his father suffered a heart attack, Bob moved his family to New Brighton and maintained the operation of Capo Furniture & Appliance during his father’s convalescence. They continued working together until his father’s retirement. Bob then purchased the store from his father and expanded the business to include estate liquidations, appraisals, and both real estate and personal property auction services. The business continued to grow and over the years, 3 generations of family worked together to serve a wide base of customers throughout the tri-state area. Now you know the rest of the story. Bob was a licensed appraiser for over 50 years, and an auctioneer for 44 years. He was also involved in real estate. He joined the Jack O’Brien Agency in Ellwood City in 1973 and continued to work over the years with various agencies in the Valley. He was a former Director on the Board of Reeves Bank and FNB Bank. He also served on the Board of the Salvation Army and was a founding member of the Beaver Valley Chamber of Commerce. Bob was an active member of the business community. He also became active in politics on both local and state levels. He was a Past Master of Union Lodge #259, F & AM, serving as Master in 1971 and 1985. His membership in other Masonic bodies included the New Castle Consistory, the York Rite, Syria Shrine, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, and the Royal Arch Chapter. He was also an Advisor in the Order of the DeMolay. Bob was a member and past officer of Woodlawn Chapter No.164, Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed many years of membership in the Community Club, the Merrick Art Gallery, New Brighton, and the Laughing Goumets of Beaver. He was a former member of Beaver Valley Ski Club and enjoyed boating on the tri-state waterways for many years. He was a member of the Christian Assembly Church, New Brighton, and was proud of his family’s heritage in the Church. Bob will be greatly missed by his wife of 39 years, Shirley (Brewer) Capo, three sons, Robert, Jr., Rochester, Benjamin (Lauren) Capo, Wexford, and Gregory Capo, New Brighton; and a former daughter in-law, Marlene Capo. He is also survived by his sister Patty (Keith) Walker, Florida, and three brothers, James Capo, GA, Dennis (Cindy) Wexford, Charles Capo, Georgia, sister-in-law, Susan (Bernard) Gordon, Big Beaver and brothers-in-law, John (Deb) Brewer, New Brighton, and David (Nancy) Brewer, Colorado; grandchildren, Robert (Abby) Capo III, Beaver Falls, Dr. Victoria (Nick) Walker, MO, Julianna Capo, Erie, Vincenzo and Augustino Capo, Wexford, as well as many other aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Friends and family will be received at the Noll Funeral Home, 333 Third Street, Beaver, PA on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 1 PM to 4 PM until time of service at 4:30PM. The Rev. Melissa Morrison officiating. Woodlawn Chapter #164, Order of the Eastern Star, will conduct a service at 4 PM at the Noll Funeral Home.
