Robert W. (Bill) Hamilton, Jr., 73, of Beaver and formerly of Hookstown, passed away peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, surrounded by his beloved family. Born August 16, 1948 in Sewickley, PA, he was the only son of the late Robert W. Sr. and Wanda (Hall) Hamilton.
He was a 1966 graduate of South Side High School, where he wrestled and played football and baseball. He attended Carolina Military Academy and the Community College of Beaver County. He served in the US Army from 1968-1971, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was a brother of the Glasgow Masonic Lodge #485. He retired from ArcelorMittal (formerly Weirton Steel) after 43 years of service. After his retirement, he was a groundskeeper at Seven Oaks Country Club for two years. His favorite pastime was watching his grandson, Max, play sports and his granddaughter, Madelyn, perform on the stage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Eric William Hamilton, in 1979, and also by his mother- and father-in-law, William and Barbara Stewart.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Judy (Stewart) Hamilton, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on July 1, 2022; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Teresa Hamilton of Beaver; his grandchildren, Maxton Michael and Madelyn Grace Hamilton, who were the joys of his life; three sisters, Sharon Snyder, Sandra DiBacco, and Pamela Hamilton; his dear uncle and friend, Lynn Hall; his uncle and aunt, Dick and Barbara Hall; his “adopted” daughter, Melissa Swearingen; and a host of wonderful cousins and friends who were blessed to know him.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Tim Jackson, Amelia, Mike, Karen, Rody and Irona, who took exceptional care of Bill throughout the time of his illness.
