Rocco Bovalino Jr., 87 Born in Beaver Falls and resident of Freedom, passed away at Beaver Meadows on May 19, 2015 surrounded by his family.
Born Feb. 6, 1928, in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Rocco and Carmella (Yaria) Bovalino. A World War II Veteran serving as a Corporal in the 24th division of the 13th field artillery unit, Industrial Engineer and Graduate of Geneva College, Mr. Bovalino worked for Jones and Laughlin Steel, LTV. Corp., Aliquippa and J&L Specialty, Midland. Rocco served his community in many ways: Freedom School Board, Borough Council, Library Board, Zoning Board, Planning Commission and Credit Union Officer. He also served as the Chairman of the Housing Authority Board and Democratic Town Chairperson. He was a faithful member and lector of St. Felix Roman Catholic Church, Freedom.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Esther (Nudi) Bovalino in 2003, two brothers, Joe “Pepi” Strati and Frank Bovalino, and two sisters, Mary Bovalino Regeldini and Rose Strati Clinton.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Sarah and Rocco Bovalino III, South Fayette; three daughters and two sons-in-laws, Maria and Robert Gallagher, Carla Zurick, of Freedom and Gina and James Rendar, Beaver; a brother, Victor Bovalino, Beaver Falls; nine grandchildren, Robert and Stephanie Gallagher, John and Cara (Gallagher) Schlie, Rocco Bovalino IV, Maura and Mark Zurick, Mia and Sean Rendar and 3 great-grandchildren, Carter and Madelyn Gallagher and John (Jay) Schlie.
Friends and family are welcome to call at Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Felix Roman Catholic Church, 450 13th Street, Freedom, PA 15042.
