Rose M. Granito, 88, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Born November 26, 1929 in Wellsville, OH, she was a daughter of the late Dominic and Anna Rivelle. Rose was a 1948 graduate of Wellsville High School and a proud alumna of the cheerleader squad. A resident of Midland since 1950, Rose, known as “Grandma Rose” to her students, worked as a teacher’s aide at Midland Elementary School for over 12 years. Her passion for cooking led her to cook for borough restaurants, and later, for several priests at St. Blaise Parish for more than 15 years. A faithful member of St. Blaise, Midland, she also was a past president of the Women’s Guild, a member of the St. Anthony’s Club, and the Catholic Daughters of America.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband Fritz A. Granito in 1985, her son, Gary L. Granito in 2007, one brother, Dr. Frank Rivelle, and a sister, Mary DeSenze.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Mark F. (Giovanna) Granito, Jax, FL; three daughters, Nanette (Richard) Corradi and Michele A. Bukta, all of Midland, and Anne E. (Nick) Amato, Calcutta, OH; a daughter-in-law Sabrina Granito; one brother, Nick (JoAnn) Rivelle, Midland; two sisters, Lucille Drago, Wellsville, OH and Mary Ann (Kim) Kennedy, East Liverpool, OH; eleven grandchildren, Michael (Alice) Granito, Dominic, Nicole, and Natalie Granito, Dante, Dana, and Maria Corradi, Nicolette (Michael) D’Antonio, Elizabeth Bukta, and Nicholas and Noelle Amato; along with four great-grandchildren, Allayna Granito, Gio and Ambrose Granito, and Emilio D’Antonio and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends will be received Friday, May 18, 2018 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Blaise Parish, Midland. A private interment will take place at Beaver Cemetery.
