Ruth Louise (Catherwood) Sullivan

Ruth Louise (Catherwood) Sullivan, 87, of Zelienople, formerly of Chippewa Township, Beaver Falls, PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 25, 2022.

Born on August 24, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA, Ruth was the wife of the late Eugene C. Sullivan and the daughter of the late James C. and Effie E. Catherwood. She attended West Deer High School, graduating in 1953. She then earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University where she met the love her life, Gene. They were married for nearly 64 years. Ruth was a very loving, supportive, and godly wife.

She was an elementary school teacher in the North Hills School District for several years until devoting her life to raising four children. She later worked for several years in the Geneva College Business Office. Honoring the Lord, by using her spiritual gift of hospitality, Ruth quietly served those in need. Her home was always open to family, friends, neighbors, students and football players.

Ruth grew up in Deer Creek Church in Gibsonia where she was involved in several ministries. She also attended and served in several women’s ministries as a member at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Sewickley and in her later years was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Chippewa.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Catherwood) Colton and her brother-in-law Dave Colton; her children, Jill (Remo) Bazzoli, Jan (Mike) Noll, Lynn (Andrew) Kartesz and Mike (Amy) Sullivan; nine grandchildren, Keenan Bazzoli, Easton (Katrina) Bazzoli, Abbie Bazzoli, Ashley (Dan) Cieply, David Noll, Caden Sullivan, Addyson Sullivan, Jackson Sullivan, Avery Sullivan; three great grandchildren, Coe Cieply, Coulson Cieply, and Kaiya Bazzoli and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, PA 15009 on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 3-7 pm. A funeral service will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 252 College Avenue, Beaver, PA 15009 on Wednesday, November 30th at 11 am. The family invites you to join them for a luncheon at the church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA), 828 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 or Pine Valley Camp, 504 Chapel Drive, Ellwood City, PA 16117
