Sally Garvin Heimbrook, 89, of Beaver, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday, June 19, 2023.
Born on September 11, 1933, Sally was the daughter of the late Robert F. and Pearl (Canuti) Garvin. She attended Beaver High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Michigan State University. Sally went on to a long and active career in real estate where she was successful on the local, state and national levels winning many awards and the respect of her peers. She was president of the Beaver County Association of REALTORS®, president of the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS®, and Regional Vice President and National Director for the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). In 2008, NAR bestowed on Sally one of their highest honors – The Distinguished Service Award in honor of her exceptional service to their profession.
She was active in her community and participated on various business, civic and charitable boards and associations including serving as chairs of the White House Conference on Children and Youth and the Executive Committee Community Mental Health Center. Sally was a lifelong and faithful member of Park Presbyterian Church where she served as a ruling Elder as well as chairman of worship and music, among other roles within the church. Sally loved to walk and could be seen daily on her treks up and down River Road. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed adventures in many countries including Costa Rica, Grand Cayman, South Africa, Australia and Israel to name a few. Sally particularly loved the ocean and treasured time spent by the sea with her family.
A loving mother and grandmother, Sally is survived by her daughters Cindie (Terry) Grammatico, Holly (Peter Bryant) Heckathorne, Heidi (Michael) Adams; her granddaughters Elissa Adams, Jillian Adams, and Caroline Adams; her stepchildren Steven (Debra) Heimbrook, David (Lou Ann) Heimbrook, Rebecca (Edward) Carlin as well as her sister Patricia Nunamaker and her brother Robert (Mary) Garvin.
In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles A. Heimbrook and her sister Paulette Garvin.
The family is especially grateful to Jack Vaughn, Lisa Chirichetti, Stephanie Rambo, and Billi Wolfe who enabled Sally to stay in her home during her later years, also to the staff at Pickering Manor in Newtown, PA, who cared for her in her final weeks.
Friends will be received Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver, PA. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Park Presbyterian Church, Beaver. Burial will follow in Beaver Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sally’s honor to Park United Presbyterian Church, or to the Beaver Area Heritage Museum for the maintenance of the Salpattica Dollhouse.
