Sam Mamula, 94 formerly of Midland passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2015 at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, a home that Sam built in 1967.
Born March 22, 1921 in Midland, he was a son of the late Milosh and Mary Mamula and had retired from Crucible Steel, Colt Industries, Midland. Sam had served in the US Army during WW II and was a faithful member of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church where he had sung in the men’s choir, and was a member of the American Yugoslav Club in Midland. Sam was well known and loved by many people, most of whom called him Uncle Sam.
Preceding him in death was his first wife of 45 years, Stella Popich Mamula, 2 brothers, Mike and Nick Mamula, 5 sisters, Dorothy Lepsic, Cecelia Bratich, Ann Plecas, Sophie Evanoff, Julia Cvetican, and a grandson, Brandon Trimmer.
Surviving is his second wife, Thelma “Tee” Mamula, a son, Gregory (Janet) Mamula, stepchildren, David (Donna) Johnston, Cindy Johnston, Robert (Janet) Baker, Michael (Bobbi Jean) Baker, Kelli (Tony) Mason, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. George Church by Father Branislav Golic. A Pomen service will be held Tuesday at 7:30 pm. Interment with full military rites by the Beaver County Special Unit will follow at the Beaver Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
