Steve Hapach, 93, formerly of Industry, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, during rehabilitation in Irwin, PA, with family by his side. Steve was residing at Tapestry Senior Living in Moon Township.
Born January 26, 1932 in Midland, he was a son of the late Louis and Kathryn (Huelic) Hapach. Steve had a long career as a steelworker at Crucible Steel in Midland PA, followed by work as a security guard at various locations. Steve was an avid hunter, loved taking yearly family trips to Myrtle Beach in his trailer, and enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Blaise Parish, Midland. Once his children were grown and on their own, he and his wife Lorraine, took numerous trips, including traveling to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Europe, and North Africa.
Steve will be greatly missed by his son Brian Douglas (Nadine) Hapach, Jeannette Pa; two daughters-in-law Barbara Bosworth and Carol Hapach, grandchildren, Lauren, Stephen, Emily, Amy, Michael, and Adam Hapach, brother Iven Hapach; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife Lorraine of 68 years, Steve was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Stephen Hapach who perished in the USAir Flight 427 tragedy and David Craig Hapach. Steve was also preceded in death by brothers Matt and Nicholas Hapach and sisters Elizabeth Tepovich and Mildred Wain.
Friends will be received Monday, September 15, 2025, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 629 Midland Ave., Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Blaise Parish, Midland, followed by a private interment at Beaver Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Steve’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
