Susan A. (Cook) Boscia, 82, of Beaver went to heaven on August 22, 2023. She was born on November 14, 1940 in Springfield, MA. She was predeceased by her parents, her father William H. Cook in 2004 and her mother Mary (Carellas) in 2010.

Sue was married to Joseph F. Boscia for 56 years. They met and were married in Augsburg, Germany. Joe was an American Army Officer, and Sue taught in the American Department of Defense school in Augsburg.

Sue is survived by three children and two grandchildren. They are daughter Anne Marie (Steve) Parys of Pittsburgh; son Joseph W. (Nancy), and two grandchildren, Alexis and Joseph W. She is also survived by two sisters, Heather (Bob) Ciosek, Christine Quinlivan, and a brother Anthony (Quailing) Cook, and many nieces and nephews.

Sue grew up in Springfield, MA, and spent much of her time at the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum in the Children’s Workshop room. She enjoyed a lifetime of painting right up to classes with an area water colorist, and at the local Senior Center.

After graduating from Classical High School in Springfield, she went on to matriculate from Westfield State (MA) College with a BS of Education. Later she graduated from Drew University in Madison, NJ with a Masters of Letters. During her career, she taught in elementary schools in Springfield, MA, the Department of Defense School in Augsburg, Germany, and in Catholic school in Westfield, NJ.

Sue loved traveling, which started nearly 60 years ago when she went to teach American children in Germany. Then over the years she and her husband traveled to nearly every country in Europe, and also a wonderful trip to China, and a cruise up the west coast of Africa. In the US, she has visited 45 states and always hoped to get to the remainder. She garnered the 45 (lowa), on a Viking Mississippi River cruise the week before her untimely death.
