Susan Patricia (Hoegle) Hogan, of Brighton Township, left us peacefully, early Sunday morning, June 24th, 2018.
Susie was born to Elizabeth (Howcroft) and Charles Hoegle in Pittsburgh, PA on September 28, 1941 and was a 1960 graduate of Beaver Area High School. She was a former employee of American General Insurance and a long-time employee of Laurel Foods where she served in the cafeteria of Michael Baker Corporation. Susie” was known by various names; “Grandma Susie”, “Aunt Susie,” and “Susie Q” were just a few. She never took life or herself too seriously. She loved to laugh, to make others laugh, and she took every opportunity to laugh at herself. Susie loved and adored her family with her entire being even while she playfully teased and pranked them, unapologetically. Her door was always open and she welcomed everyone with open arms, especially babies. Babies and children, in particular, gave her great joy. Never did she hesitate to shower them with love, affection, gifts and sugary treats (especially when they were tired, sick, or hungry).
Surviving Susie are her husband of 56 years, John Paul Hogan; 2 sons, John M. (Cathy) Hogan and Bryan Hogan; a daughter Rachel (Andy) Phipps; three brothers; Joseph Hoegle, Dennis (Norma) Hoegle and Karl (Susan) Hoegle; two sisters, Diane Hall and Kathy (Rick) Julian; best-friend, Ed Patton; sister-in-law, Martha Hoegle; grandson, Brandon (Claire); great-grandson, Connor; granddaughter, Jessie (Joshua) Hoskinson; great-grandson, Mason; grandson, Michael Schweitzer; seven nieces; Elizabeth Tudor, Amy Vann, Carol Wagner, Cheryl Woodruff, Erika Airhart, Kathy Kendrew and Kim Wory; and six nephews; Michael Thompson, Gregory Hoegle, Aaron Hoegle, Jonathan Hoegle, Kevin Hoegle, and Jason Hoegle; as well as a myriad of great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by four brothers; Charles Hoegle Jr., John Hoegle, Michael Hoegle, Rickie Hoegle, and a sister-in-law, Michaeline Hoegle.
Friends will be received Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Robert Miller, Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver. A private interment will take place at Beaver Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, please make a dedication gift in Susie’s memory to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Vitas HealthCare for their very compassionate care during Susie’s last days.
Susie’s quick wit and generous nature endeared her to nearly everyone she met. She is and will continue to be loved dearly and will be missed by many. But as Susie would say to each of us, “turn that frown up-side down.”
