Suzanne E. Torres

Suzanne Elizabeth Torres, born on March 16th, 1969, gracefully received her angel wings on June 10th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Peter and Judy (Ackerman) Schenk at General Hospital in Grangeville, Idaho.

From an early age starting at five, Suzanne’s remarkable talent as a dancer blossomed, captivating all who watched her. Her passion for animals started when she entered 4H. Loving the animals, she managed to convince her parents, and her grandma and grandpa to buy her very own cherished quarter horse, Coco King Frost (Chalk). Suzanne’s dedication and skill as an equestrian earned her numerous awards and trophies, including the esteemed title of State Champion.

Completing her education at Kamiakin High School in Kennewick, Washington, Suzanne graduated in 1987. At the age of 19, her adventurous spirit led her to embark on a journey to Lahaina, Maui, where she worked at a high-end retail clothing store while relishing the beauty of the tropical paradise. She was able to convince her brother and many of his dear friends to join her in this enchanting escape… and they did!

In 1990, Suzanne seized an opportunity to explore the world by becoming a flight attendant for Pan American Airlines. Her first flight after training was an international trip that took her to Budapest, Hungary. Thus igniting her passion for travel. It was during her adventures in the skies that she met Rick, also a flight attendant, who would become her beloved husband of 26 years. Settling in Rick’s hometown of Midland, Pennsylvania, they welcomed three cherished children into their lives: Connor, Claire, and Cole.

While raising her precious children, Suzanne pursued her dream of becoming a nurse, embodying the belief that hard work could conquer any obstacle. Balancing the responsibilities of motherhood, a toddler and a little girl on the way, she dedicated herself to her studies and became a registered nurse through the Community College of Beaver County, graduating among the top three of her class. The joy and pride Suzanne and her family felt were immeasurable.

Working hard for years, Suzanne’s passion for nursing bloomed as she embraced her role with unwavering dedication. Progressing to the position of nursing supervisor, she demonstrated her love for caring for others and showcased her exceptional leadership qualities.

Suzanne’s adventurous spirit continued to shine brightly, and she and Rick would embark on daily bike rides, sharing their love for motorcycles. Eventually, Suzanne expressed her desire to ride her own bike, and with determination, she acquired her motorcycle license and experienced the thrill and beauty of riding firsthand amongst her loving husband.

Suzanne was not only a woman of adventure and resilience but also possessed a creative spirit that knew no bounds. Her artistic talents shone through in various aspects of her life. Ranging from planting flowers and taking pride in how beautiful they bloomed, from making jewelry, and diaper cakes. At one point, she embarked on the journey of starting her own online store, where her unique creations and artistic vision came to life. Suzanne’s brilliance, inspiration, and boundless love illuminated the lives of all who knew her. Whether in moments of light or darkness, she emanated warmth and kindness, becoming a beacon of love itself.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Rick, her beloved children, Connor James, Claire Juliet, and Cole Joaquin, her parents Peter and Judy Schenk, her brother Peter J. and wife Chinatsu Schenk, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

In this moment of bidding farewell, we come together to treasure the memories of Suzanne’s indomitable spirit, her compassionate nature, and her unwavering dedication to motherhood. Although we will deeply miss her presence, her legacy will forever serve as a beacon, inspiring us to embrace life’s adventures with zest and to love others with limitless compassion.

Rest in peace, momma. Your legacy of love, bravery, and exceptional achievements will forever inspire us to embrace life’s adventures, cherish our loved ones, and extend care to all those around us.
