Thomas Johns

Thomas G. Johns, 93, of Midland, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at Trinity Oaks Care Center, Beaver.

Born June 7, 1924 in Maesteg, Wales, United Kingdom, he was a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Johns. After his graduation from Aliquippa High School in 1943, he went on to serve proudly as a staff sergeant in the U. S. Army Air Corp during WWII, receiving two Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic China Memorial Badge. Upon his return to the area, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1951 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. Thomas retired from the Production Planning Department at Crucible Steel, Midland in 1982.

In his spare time, he was an active member of the Deer Trails Country Club, where he served as treasurer and as a member of the board of directors for several years. Thomas was also a member of the Midland Rotary Club, serving as president for two consecutive years, and of the Midland American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Doty, FL.

Thomas will be sadly missed by three nieces, Beverly Doty, New Cumberland, PA, Marsha Lee, Colorado Springs, CO, and Kim Rekov, Byron, GA; one nephew, Dr. Robert Doty, Oak Park, IL; special caregiver, Elsie P. Bruno, Midland; and his best friend, Jesse Presutti, Brighton Township.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to the Nick Tepsic and George Cindrich Families, Midland for all they did for Thomas.

A private blessing service was held at the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Avenue, Midland, followed by interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Industry. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
