Thomas Monks

Thomas Monks, 83, of Midland, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospice surrounded by his family.

Born May 16, 1931 in Warrington, England, he was a son of the late Charles and Beatrice Elizabeth Wood Monks, and had been a resident of Midland for over 30 years. He had worked for numerous nuclear construction companies as a subcontracted Nuclear Mechanical Engineer. A member of St. Blaise Parish, Midland, he was a member of St. Vincent de Paul and served with Her Majesties Royal Marines. He was proud of his heritage and held dual citizenship in England and America. An actor, he belonged to numerous acting groups, and loved the theater. He was also an avid golfer.

Preceding him in death, besides his parents, were three brothers, Edward, Howard and William Monks, and a brother-in-law, Phil Scarsella.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary Jane Monks, Midland; three sons, Drew (Beth) Miladin, Center Township, Eric (fiancée Jennifer Banovsky) Miladin, Center Township, and Dr. Craig (Diane) Miladin, DC, Calcutta; six grandchildren, Tera (Paul) Turnsek, Paige and Chase Miladin, Brayden Miladin, Atlas and Afton Miladin; two step-grandchildren, Nadia and Michael Banovsky; a twin sister, May Moss Monks, Warrington, England; special friends, Jay (Linda) Crawford, Moon Township, whom annually held a golf outing in Tom’s honor, and his wife’s family, Rose (Richard) Stiffey, Midland, Helen Reindl, Florida, and John (Jackie) Scarsella, VA.

Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SCHWERHA-NOLL FUNERAL HOME, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Blaise Parish, Midland, by Father Michael Yaksick. Private interment will be at the Beaver Cemetery.
