Thomas F. Schwertz, 83, of Beaver passed away surrounded by his loving family Saturday, June 1, 2019.
Born February 23, 1936 in Fair Oaks, he was a son of the late Paul J. and Dora Simmons Schwertz Daugherty. A proud veteran of the U. S. Army where he served as a sharpshooter, Thomas returned to the area, residing in Beaver for the past 47 years, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local #341, having driven trucks for multiple companies before his retirement. A lifetime member of the Beaver Valley Sportsman Club, Thomas shared his knowledge as an instructor. He loved antiques cars and regularly attended car cruises as a member of the Cruzin Few, Beaver Falls. Thomas was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Beaver.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Gretchen Crumrine Schwertz, Beaver; two sons, Kenneth Allen Schwertz, FL, and Thomas Russell “Rusty” Schwertz, MO; a daughter, Roseanne Doreen Pierce, IL; a brother and sister, Charles M. Schwertz, TX, and Betty Lou (Jim) Rawlings, OH; sister-in-law, Mary M. Schwertz, Beaver; numerous grandchildren; and best friends, John Miles, Industry, and John and Ellen Eberhart, Center Twp.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a brother, Paul James Schwertz, Jr., and sister, Roberta Steinmetz Goss.
A memorial visitation will take place Friday, June 7, 2019 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 252 College Ave., Beaver. Interment will take place at a later date at Beaver Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Thomas’ name may be made to a charity of your choice.
