Velma J. Berger

Velma Jean Berger, 87, of Vanport passed away Thursday April 28, 2016 at Good Samartian Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver.

Born September 1, 1928 in Vanport to the late Walter and Ruth Brewer. She was retired from the J.C. Penney Company, Northern Lights with 21 years service. She was a member of the Vanport Presbyterian Church and the Crusaders class. Also attended the Tuesday Morning J.C. Penney Retirees Brunch. She loved reading, writing short articles and poems. Velma was an avid Mah Jongg player and belonged to the former “Joy Luck Club”. She was a member of the Medical Center Auxiliary.

In addition to he parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert S. Berger, in 1996. Also one sister Ada and two brothers Elias and Gilbert.

Velma is Survived  by two sons Robert, Jr. Portland, Oregon and Ross  Vanport, and one daughter Diane Johnson of Bellefonte, Pa; one sister-in-law, Virginia Kelly, Beaver, and  two much loved grandchildren, Natalie Johnson and Ross Berger, Jr., whom she loved very much

Friends will be received Sunday May 1, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in the Noll Funeral Home Inc. 333 Third Street, Beaver. A Service will be held Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00a.m at the Vanport Presbyterian Church, Officiate by her pastor Reverend David Byers.
