Velma R. Richards

Velma R. McGaffick Richards, 88 of Brighton Twp, formerly of Ohioville went to join her husband and greet her Lord on July 2, 2017.

Born July 15, 1928 in Ohioville, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Ruth McGaffick and had been a resident of Ohioville nearly all of her life.  She was a 1946 graduate of Midland High School and a faithful member of the New Salem Presbyterian Church.  Velma had volunteered at Heritage Valley, Beaver for 20 years and was active in the Fairview Grange for 70 years.  She was also a member of the Beaver Pomona Grange, PA State Grange, and the National Grange. She loved to cross stich and read, but her favorite activity was spending time with her cherished family.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband of 55 years, Charles “Chick” Richards, a niece, an infant granddaughter and her brother, Wayne McGaffick.

She is survived by 2 sons, Paul (Launa Wetzel) Richards, Erie, Donald (Victoria) Richards, Ohioville, a grandson, Scott Richards, and a granddaughter, Rebekah (Alex) Youngdahl.  Velma was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great granddaughter.  She is also survived by nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc. 333 Third St. Beaver.  A funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 am at the New Salem Presbyterian Church by her pastor, Reverend Jeffrey Marquis.  Private interment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.  Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
