Walter G. Mcdermott

On Friday 21 Oct 2022, Walter G. McDermott, 83, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

Walt was born in Beaver County, PA on 15 March 1939 to the late Walter and Marion Josephine (Gryczynska) McDermott. Walt was raised and educated in Beaver PA and graduated from Beaver High School in 1957. Shortly after graduating Walt entered the United States Air Force and served his country honorably for 4 years, spending most of his time in Italy. After leaving the service, Walt settled in California serving as a firefighter and eventually was appointed Deputy Fire Chief for the State, retiring in March 1993. In retirement, Walt returned to Beaver where he was reacquainted with his second grade classmate, Judith (Frye) Marshall, whom he married on 2 March 2005. Walt served as President of the Heritage Foundation and as a councilman serving for the Borough of Beaver.

Walt is survived by his wife of 18 years Judith (Marshall) McDermott, Beaver PA; his children Kellie (McDermott) (Robert) Lewis, Minot, ND, Kent McDermott, New Brighton, PA, and Michael (Mychelle) McDermott, Sacramento, CA; and his grandchildren Hannah (Lewis) (Cody) Dailey, DeLaney McDermott, Noah McDermott, Luke McDermott, and Mia McDermott.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Walter and Marion McDermott, brother Jack McDermott, and sister Tootie Lombardi.

To honor Walt’s wishes, there will be no viewing or memorial. He will be buried in a private ceremony in Beaver Cemetery. Professional arrangements have been entrusted to the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
