William James “Wild Bill” Hawthorne, 83, of Chester, WV, formerly of Industry, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 1, 2022, at Lakeview Personal Care in Darlington, PA. Bill was born on February 22, 1939, to the late Elizabeth Hawthorne Polinski and James T. Hawthorne, and stepson to the late George Polinski. A devout Roman Catholic, Bill was a member of Sacred Heart in Chester, WV, and a former member of St. Christine’s in Industry, PA. He worked as a millwright at Crucible Steel, Midland, Local 1212, as well as a security guard at Beaver Valley Nuclear PowerStation, Shippingport, PA, Local 502. Bill was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Midland Sportsman’s Club, St. Christine’s Church Council, and Tri-State Square Dance Club. He was an avid outdoors man; he especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bill was a coach for the championship team in the late 70s, Industry Yankees Little League, and Colt baseball teams. Bill was a passionate Pittsburgh sports fan, liked to tend to his garden, and most of all, he loved to cook for his family. He will be sadly missed by them all. Along with his parents and stepfather, Bill is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sandra Allene Hawthorne (2013), and son, Paul Andrew Hawthorne (2008). Bill is survived by his children, Lori Lynn (Luigi) Pietrandrea, of Hopewell Twp., PA; William James (Darla) Hawthorne II, of Hopewell, Twp., PA; Philip Bradley (Robin) Hawthorne, of Dalton, PA; Anne Marie (Jason) Miller, of Industry, PA; and Amy Hawthorne, of Saratoga, CA. Also surviving are his brothers, Robert (Jane) Hawthorne, of Vanport, PA, and Harry (Nancy) Hawthorne, of Hawley, TX. Bill was a beloved “Pap Pap” to nine grandchildren, and one grandson-in-law, all of whom he loved and adored with all of his heart: Alyssa (Theo) Reddinger, Anthony Pietrandrea, Noah Hawthorne, Emma Hawthorne, Jacob Miller, Jordan Miller, Kyle Miller, Maxwell Hawthorne, and Lucas Hawthorne. In addition, Bill had many wonderful nieces, nephews, and close friends that were like family. Friends will be received on Sunday, December 4, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, PA 15009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, December 5, 2022, 10:30 am, at Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Saints Peter and Paul Church, 200 Third Street, Beaver, PA 15009.
