William J. Proffitt

William J. Proffitt, 101, of Zelienople, formerly of Beaver, passed away early Thursday morning, March 14, 2019.

Born March 27, 1917 in Beaver, he was a son of the late Howard Leighton and Murtle (Weigle) Proffitt. A graduate of Beaver High School, William went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army during WWII. He returned to Beaver County to work at J & L Steel, Co. where he retired after a long career. In his spare time, William was a member of the Masons.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte (Miller) Proffitt, and sisters, Eleanor Glass and Clare Baer.

He will be greatly missed by his five nieces and nephews.
