William F. Smith, Sr., 77, of Midland, passed away Monday evening, February 29, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver, surrounded by his family.
Born May 8, 1938 in Aliquippa, he was a son of the late Samuel R. and Alice Emerick Smith. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy and retired as a Boiler Inspector from the PA Department of Labor and Industry in 2001 after more than 20 years.
William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Delina Damiano Smith, one daughter, Andrea Smith, four sons, William (Lisa) Smith, Jr., Donald Smith, Samuel (Brenda) Smith, and Michael (Lori) Smith, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, three brothers, Donald (Louise) Smith, Charles (Sigred) Smith, and S. Robert (Deborah) Smith, one sister Doris (Mike) Turkovich, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his stepmother Ruth Smith.
Friends will be received Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 4 pm until 6:30 pm in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Avenue, Midland, where a Blessing Service, celebrated by Fr. Michael Yaksick, will immediately follow. Military honors will be conducted by the Midland American Legion, Post 481. Interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
