Yvonne H. Roe, 84, Clarks Summit, Pa., formerly of Beaver passed away early Monday morning, January 28, 2019 at Willowbrook Place Assisted Living Community in Clarks Summit, following a brief illness.

Born February 21, 1934 in McKeesport, the daughter of the late Ward S. and Edith T. Heath, she moved to Beaver in 1942 where she resided 76 years until early June 2018, when she moved to Clarks Summit, Pa. She was a member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Beaver.

Yvonne graduated from Beaver High School in 1952 and received her BA degree from Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio in 1956, where she was an FAD Sorority sister. She was certified to teach English, Speech, and History and began her teaching career in Bay Village, Ohio in 1956. Following her marriage to Donald V. Roe in 1957, she was employed by the Beaver Area School District as a high school English and Humanities teacher. She left teaching briefly in the early 1960s and taught 4 years in the Rochester High School before ultimately returning to Beaver High School. She continued her education while teaching and earned a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from Edinboro University in 1985. She retired in 1997 after 32 years in the classroom. Following her retirement, she worked part time as a greeter for the Noll Funeral Home for several years. She was a passionate educator who cared deeply about her students, and maintained life-long relationships with many. She also was a devoted and loving daughter to her parents, Ward and Edith Heath, and also loved her dog Hershey.

She was a very active member of the Rochester Beaver Lions Club, served as an officer, and ultimately as “King Lion” for the organization. She was also very active with fellow classmates from the Beaver High School class of ’52, organizing and planning reunions, and maintained a decades long friendship with the students in the class of 1960.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Donald V. Roe in 1995; her father in 1989 and mother in 2001; a sister, Dorothy Heath in 1930; and a brother, Ward Robert Heath who was killed in action during World War II.

She is survived by her son, Ward V. Roe, Dalton, Pa and his wife Kerry; special cousins, Gloria Kline and Shannon Kline; two sisters in law, Beverly Kelly and Betty Jo Roe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Sunday, February 3 from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St. Beaver, where a memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Robert Goosen Monday, February 4 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Beaver Cemetery.
